The maternity hospital is Estonia’s oldest, having begun operations in 1804. The maternity hospital of East Tallinn Central Hospital, which began as the Free Hospital, is celebrating its 212th year of operation in October.

The maternity hospital of long-term traditions and the continuity of generations cares a lot about its patients, so the hospital is very happy to think of them during its birthday month.

The Head Midwife of the maternity hospital Vivian Arusaar states that the hospital staff as a whole is very glad to be able to share the birthday joy with families. “A birthday is a family party after all, and there’s nothing better than getting to spread some joy to families,” she explains. “Some time after giving birth is still spent in the care of midwives and doctors, so it’s important for us that the fresh parents could feel at home at the hospital and adjust to the new situation,” Vivian explains.

“It’s important for families to feel safe in this stage of life and for any occurring problems to be resolved quickly,” the Head Midwife adds. For maximum comfort of the patients and their close ones, the renovated 5th floor of the maternity hospital contains 19 modern family wards with all amenities, and 3 mother-child wards. In addition, the 2nd floor of the hospital has 7 family wards and 2 general wards with four beds.

Cooperation with families begins during the monitoring of the pregnancy. All patients are welcome here and expectant mothers can quickly and easily book an appointment with a midwife in the patient portal iPatsient of the East Tallinn Central Hospital. All pregnant women in our care will receive a free pregnancy handbook and one free pass to a family school lecture of their choice.

As of the last week of September, over 3,300 children have been born in East Tallinn Central Hospital this year.
