In addition to online classes, Family School will be starting exercise and yoga video classes for pregnant and postnatal women. Participation in classes is available through Webex.
East Tallinn Central Hospital Physiotherapist Triin Jeršov will be conducting the pregnancy and postnatal exercise and discussion class.
Pregnancy affects every part of a woman’s body. Exercising during pregnancy helps women adapt to the various changes their body is undergoing. Physical exercise helps prevent and reduce back aches and swelling of the legs and feet, maintain good posture and prepare you for the birth. The class includes exercises for the abdominal, back and pelvic floor muscles. We will also talk about various topics related to physical activity during pregnancy.
It takes time and care to recover from childbirth. Postnatal exercise helps speed up the process and teaches you how to use your muscles in the right way. During the class, we will talk about different topics that can prove problematic after childbirth. We will perform exercises to restore the transverse abdominal, i.e. corset muscle, activate core back muscles and strengthen the pelvic floor. We will show you the correct ergonomic techniques and positions to use to take care of yourself and your child.
Midwife Diana Leht will be conducting the pregnancy yoga and discussion class. She will cover topics such as pregnancy and childbirth and show a variety of yoga exercises. The class will teach you how to relax and prevent pregnancy-related ailments. The breathing and movement exercises acquired with yoga are helpful during childbirth. We will practice movements recommended during pregnancy and childbirth, practice birthing positions and teach you how to attune yourself by focusing on yourself and your child. The midwife will help answer any questions during the discussion forum. Yoga classes are suitable from the start of pregnancy all the way up to delivery time.
